Cambridge Hosts Volleyball Triangular With Paxton and Sutherland on Tuesday Evening

Cambridge played host on Tuesday as they hosted Paxton and Sutherland for a volleyball triangular. The Trojans swept the Tigers and Sailors, and the Tigers swept the Sailors. Check out the blog for more!
In the first match, Cambridge faced Paxton. Cambridge jumped out to a 10-3 lead and forced the Tigers to call a timeout. The Trojans kept pushing out of the timeout and extended their lead to 15-6. Paxton was forced to call their final timeout at 21-8. Cambridge went on to win the set, 25-8, and take the 1-0 lead.
In set two, Cambridge maintained the pressure, and Paxton continued to fight. The Trojans jumped out to an 8-1 lead and extended it to 11-6. Cambridge went on a run to extend their lead to 23-13. They eventually went on to win set two, 25-15, and the match 2-0.
Unofficially, for Cambridge, they were strong from the service line as they had six aces. Leading the team in kills was Mallory Springer with five, Brooklyn Holtze with four, Elisabeth Kubik with three, and Kolbryn Clason and Annabelle Taylor each had two kills.
Unofficially, for Paxton, Jakcee Mitchell, Cayla Peterson, Jaleigh Hansen, and Addison Holm each had two kills.

In the second match, Paxton faced Sutherland. The Tigers jumped out to a 5-2 lead and continued to apply the pressure, forcing the Sailors to call a timeout at 11-5. Paxton went on to win the set, 25-13.
In set two, Paxton jumped to a 2-0 lead, but the Sailors had answers as they tied it 2-2. The Tigers went on a little run to extend their lead to 12-5 and forced Sutherland to call a timeout. Sutherland responded out of the timeout as they now only trailed Paxton, 16-12. Sutherland pulled within one, 21-20, to force Paxton to use a timeout. Out of the timeout, Sutherland tied it up at 21, but Paxton ended up winning the set, 25-21, and taking the match 2-0.
Unofficially, Paxton had seven aces in the match. Addison Holm led the Tigers with 10 kills, Jackee Mitchell had five kills, Jaleigh Hansen had three kills, and Briley Dorram had two kills.
Unofficially, for Sutherland, Leah Harper had four kills, and Kate Dyer had three kills.

In the final match, Cambridge faced Sutherland. The Trojans jumped out to a 6-2 lead and extended it to 13-6, forcing the Sailors to call a timeout. Out of that timeout, Mallory Springer rallied off three straight aces. Cambridge extended the lead to 18-7, and Sutherland used their final timeout. Cambridge went on to win set one, 25-11.
In set two, Sutherland struck first as they took a 3-0 lead, but the Trojans evened it up at 3-3. Cambridge then took the lead 5-3, but Sutherland wasn't letting them get too far as they evened it back up at 10-10. The Trojans extended the lead to 13-10, and Sutherland called a timeout. Cambridge was able to pull away and win the set, 25-17, and the match, 2-0.
Unofficially, Cambridge had eight total aces. Brooklyn Hotlze posted 13 kills, Elisabeth Kubik had six kills, Mallory Springer had four kills, and Annabelle Taylor added three kills.
Unofficially, for Sutherland, Addisyn Gunderson and Addison Arvdal each had three kills, and Leah Harper, Kate Dyer, and Drew Rotert each had two kills.

Paxton is now 2-2 on the year and will travel to South Platte on Thursday.
Sutherland is 1-3 and is off until next Thursday, 9/11, and will host a triangular with Southern Valley and Southwest.
Cambridge is 5-1 and will travel to Bertrand on Thursday for a triangular with the Vikings and Alma.
