MAYWOOD-HAYES CENTER SPRING SPORTS PREVIEW


WOLVES RETURN CORE WHILE ALSO BRING IN SOLID GROUP OF FRESHMEN

The Maywood-Hayes Center Wolves didn't lose a single girl to graduation and they are bringing in a solid group of freshmen. Head coach for MHC, Aaron Gallegos, is looking forward to this spring season as he has a very well-rounded and versatile group.


Returning state qualifiers are, Kiley Hejtmanek in the 100-meter dash (6th), 200-meter dash (5th), 400-meter dash (2nd) and 4x400 meter relay (4th), Ashlin Broz in the 1600-meter run (6th), 4x800 meter relay (3rd), and 4x400 meter relay (4th), and Reagan Stengel in the 800-meter run, 4x400 meter relay (4th) and the 4x800 meter relay (3rd).


Gallegos is looking for Jenna Ingison to contribute in the triple jump and hurdles, Ava Hardin in the 4x800 and distance, Karissa Stengel in the 4x400, high jump, and open 400, Blayklee Farr in jumps and sprints, Keslie Cox in hurdles and sprints, and Maddie Merritt in distance.


The Wolves will begin their season at the UNK Indoor on March 16th.


SMALL GROUP WILL BE FUN CHALLENGE FOR GALLEGOS THIS SPRING

The Wolves have a small track squad for the boys this spring as five athletes are on the roster. Aaron Gallegos, head coach for Maywood-Hayes Center said, "They will be fun to coach and see what they can accomplish individually throughout the season."


No state qualifiers return for the Wolves but Gallegos looks for Ryan Werkmeister to contribute in the sprints, Kody Schwenk in the hurdles and sprints, and Sawyer Dibbern in the hurdles.


Maywood-Hayes Center will open their season on March 16th at the UNK Indoor meet.


WOLVES LOOK TO CAPITALIZE ON EXPERIENCE

For the Maywood-Hayes Center Golf team, it looks like they could put together a nice team in 2023. "This season looks promising for Maywood-Hayes Center Wolves golf team. we have quite a few new golfers with promising talent. Our outlook for this season is to improve our athletes and give them a Good chance at districts and maybe even state," says second-year head coach Brad Thoendel.


Returning letter winners for the Wolves include Ory Johnson, Kyler Cox, Kash Cox, and Carter Morrow. MHC starts the year on Tuesday, March 28th at the Cambridge Invite.
