RPAC Girls Basketball Results as of 1/14


The Nebraska weather wreaked havoc this week as there were a lot of postponements and cancellations both early in the week and at the end of the week. Teams are prepping for the RPAC Tournament this week as that begins on Saturday. You can find the RPAC bracket at the end of this blog--Please note that all times are in CST.



Alma

Alma hosted Amherst on Tuesday evening and despite not having school that day or Monday, the Cardinals were able to hold on to secure the 54-53 win. Alma weathered the storm during the first half as they trailed 30-23 heading into the locker room. Alma outscored the Broncos in both the third and fourth quarters to secure the win. Addison Siebels led the team with 20 points and nine rebounds. Riley Scott added 17 points, four assists, and five steals while Kamryn Scott contributed 11 points and five rebounds.


Hi-Line traveled to town on Thursday and the Cardinals took care of business as they rolled to an 81-12 victory. Alma's aggressive defense forced 32 steals. R. Scott had 13 points, Tierston Moore had 12 points, four assists, and three steals, and Siebels had 11 points. Kamri Neal led the Cardinals in steals with seven.


Alma hit the road to Hitchcock County on Friday evening and that game was an RPAC Rundown Featured Matchup. You can read more about that game by clicking here.


Alma is now 13-1 on the season and will travel to Loomis on Thursday. Alma has earned the #1 seed in the East and will have a first-round bye in the RPAC Tournament. They will play the winner of #4 Cambridge and #5 Arapahoe on Monday the 22nd at 6:00 P.M. in Bertrand.

Arapahoe

Arapahoe traveled to Loomis on Tuesday and struggled to get into a rhythm as they couldn't get the shots to fall. The Warriors lost to the Wolves, 47-31. Cadence Carpenter led the team with nine points and Clara Hilker led the team with 12 rebounds.


The Warriors hosted Hi-Line on Friday and they had a nice bounce-back win as they were able to get the 64-24 win over the Bulls. Arapahoe led 40-11 at the half and kept their foot on the gas until the final buzzer. As a team, the Warriors came away with 24 steals. Carpenter led the team with 14 points and 10 rebounds while Berkley Warner added 12 points, six assists, and seven steals.


Arapahoe has a busy week ahead as they host Axtell on Tuesday and travel to Southern Valley on Thursday. Arapahoe has earned the #5 seed in the East for the RPAC Tournament and will face #4 Cambridge on Saturday at Medicine Valley at 5:00 P.M.


Bertrand

The Vikings traveled to Southwest on Friday evening and fell behind early as they trailed 30-6 at the half but tried to make a run in the second half as they were able to convert 15 points but the hole was too big to climb out of as they lost, 51-21.


Bertrand hosted Overton on Saturday afternoon and the Vikings were able to hang with the Eagles for a little while but went cold and the Eagles caught fire. Bertrand lost 55-27.

The Vikings travel to Maywood-Hayes Center on Thursday. Bertrand is the #7 seed in the East for the RPAC Tournament and will play #2 Southern Valley on Saturday at Medicine Valley at 11:00 A.M.


Cambridge

Cambridge traveled to Sutherland on Friday night and jumped out to a solid lead and was forced to hold off a Sailor run in the fourth quarter to secure the 45-30 win.


Cambridge was supposed to host Maxwell on Saturday but due to the frigid temperatures, that game was canceled.


The Trojans are now 8-5 and will travel to Dundy County Stratton on Thursday. Cambridge is the #4 seed in the East for the RPAC Tournament and will play #5 Arapahoe on Saturday at Medicine Valley at 5:00 P.M. on Saturday.



Dundy County Stratton

The Tigers had a big week as they had three games and they started the week by hosting Hitchcock County on Tuesday. Dundy County Stratton started a little slow and trailed after the first quarter but then they got shots to fall and they came up with the 51-39 win. Clara Spargo led the team with 20 points and 14 rebounds and Kimberly Escobar added 10 points.


Dundy County Stratton hosted Medicine Valley on Thursday and it was tight through the first half but the Tigers made some adjustments after the break and were able to create some separation in the second half to secure the 52-40 win. Laynee Lutz led the Tigers with 19 points, Alyssa Schneider added 12 points, nine rebounds, six assists, and four steals, and Escobar tallied 10 points.


Loomis traveled to Dundy County Stratton on Saturday and got the 44-26 win over the Wolves. The Tigers came away with 15 steals in the game. Schneider led the team with 12 points, six rebounds, and four steals while Escobar added 10 points.


The Tigers are now 6-8 and will travel to Wallace on Tuesday and host Cambridge on Thursday. Dundy County Stratton earned the #4 seed in the West for the RPAC Tournament and will face #5 Maxwell in Wallace at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday.

Hitchcock County

The Falcons traveled to Dundy County Stratton on Tuesday and had the 27-24 lead at the half before they went cold and only scored 12 points in the second half and had 28 turnovers in the game. Hitchcock County lost the game, 51-39. Byanka Tyan had 14 points and Raegan Hagan had 12 points to lead the Falcons.


Hitchcock County hosted Alma on Friday night and that game was one of the RPAC Rundown Featured Matchups. To read more about that game, you can click here.


The Falcons are 5-8 on the season and will host Paxton on Tuesday. Hitchcock County is the #6 seed in the West for the RPAC Tournament and will face #3 Wauneta-Palisade on Saturday at 5:00 P.M. in Wallace.


Maxwell

On Tuesday, Maxwell traveled to Maywood-Hayes Center and hung around with the Wolves for the first quarter before they couldn't buy a bucket as they only scored four points in the second quarter and coughed up 36 turnovers in the game. Maywood-Hayes Center came away with the 60-35 win over the Wildcats. Jenna Miller led the team with 15 points.


On Friday, Maxwell was scheduled to host South Loup but due to the frigid cold, that game was forced to be postponed to a later date.


Saturday was the same song and dance as Maxwell was slated to travel to Cambridge but again, the bitter cold forced that game to be canceled.


Maxwell is now 5-7 on the year and will host Brady on Tuesday and Sandhills Valley on Thursday. Maxwell is the #5 seed in the West for the RPAC Tournament and will play #4 Dundy County Stratton in Wallace at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday.

Maywood-Hayes Center

On Tuesday, Maywood-Hayes Center hosted Maxwell and was able to be a nuisance as they came up with 19 steals and forced 36 Wildcat turnovers to come away with a 60-35 win. Blayklee Farr led the way with 19 points and five rebounds, Kesli Cox had 12 points, and Karissa Stengel had 10 points. Caylie Softley and Reagan Stengel led the team with four steals each while K. Stengel and Farr each added three.


The Wolves traveled to Sandhills-Thedford on Friday and were able to win, 43-35.


Maywood-Hayes Center is 13-1 on the season and will host Bertrand on Thursday. The Wolves earned the #1 seed in the West and will play the winner of #4 Dundy County Stratton and #5 Maxwell on Monday the 22nd in Maxwell at 6:00 P.M. for the RPAC Tournament.


Medicine Valley

The Raiders hosted Sandhills Valley on Tuesday and had a dominating 53-8 win. Medicine Valley was able to hold the Raiders to four points in each half and had 37 steals and 11 blocks as a team. Stella Heapy had 24 points and 13 steals to lead the team.


On Thursday, Medicine Valley traveled to Dundy County Stratton to take on the Tigers. The Raiders trailed 24-19 at the half and then it was a 14-7 run from Dundy County Stratton that created a gap that the Raiders couldn't overcome as they lost, 52-40. Medicine Valley had 20 turnovers in the game which also played a factor. Heapy led the team with 17 points and Remmi Stout had 16 points, 10 rebounds, and four steals.


The Raiders were scheduled to host Mullen on Friday but that game was postponed to a later date due to weather.


Medicine Valley is 5-7 on the season and will travel to Hi-Line on Thursday. The Raiders earned the #6 seed in the East for the RPAC Tournament and will face #3 Southwest at home on Saturday at 2:00 P.M.



Paxton

Paxton and Creek Valley were set to play on Thursday but due to weather, they postponed that game.


Wallace came to town on Friday and Paxton jumped out to the early 16-7 lead and never let up. The Tigers did weather a Wildcat run in the second half but came away with the 53-31 win. Jacelyn Jorgensen had 13 points, eight rebounds, and three steals while Abigale Nicholson had 12 points, five rebounds, and three steals to lead the team. Jordan Clouse also added three steals.


The Tigers are 8-4 on the season and will travel to Hitchcock County on Tuesday and host Wauneta-Palisade on Thursday. Paxton earned the #2 seed in the West for the RPAC Tournament and will play #7 Wallace at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday in Wallace.


Southern Valley

The Eagles were supposed to host Chase County on Tuesday but the weather forced that game to be postponed until after the RPAC Tournament.


Southern Valley hosted Holdrege on Friday and got a big 46-21 victory. Ann Bose led the team with 17 points, 7 rebounds, seven assists, four steals, and two blocks. Adi Hunt added 16 points, three assists, and five steals.


Southern Valley is now 13-1 on the season and will host Arapahoe on Thursday. The Eagles are the #2 seed in the East for the RPAC Tournament and will play #7 seeded Bertrand on Saturday at Medicine Valley at 11:00 A.M.


Southwest

Southwest and Hi-Line were scheduled to play on Tuesday but due to the weather, that game was postponed until Saturday.


On Friday, Southwest hosted Bertrand and they were able to get the 51-21 win over the Vikings. Allison VanPelt and Kyra Nelms each posted 13 points to lead the team. VanPelt also came away with five steals to lead the team.


On Saturday, the Roughriders traveled to Hi-Line to take on the Bulls. They jumped out quickly and secured the 52-11 win. Southwest had 19 steals as a team. VanPelt led the team with 12 points.


Southwest is now 9-5 on the season and will host Cheylin, KS on Tuesday. Southwest is the #3 seed on the East for the RPAC Tournament and will play #6 Medicine Valley on Saturday at Medicine Valley at 2:00 P.M.


Wallace

On Thursday, Wallace hosted South Platte and was able to stay competitive in the first quarter before going cold. The Wildcats had 27 turnovers in their 62-42 loss to the Blue Knights. Wallace was able to cause some chaos for South Platte as they came away with 20 steals. Mariana Aceves-Lopez led the team with 12 points and five rebounds while Kaley Sauser had 11 points and eight steals.


Wallace traveled to Paxton on Friday and had a slower start but made a run in the second half but were hurt by their 32 turnovers. The Wildcats fell 53-31 to the Tigers. Kendyl Flaming led the team with 13 points.


Wallace is 5-9 on the season and will host Dundy County Stratton on Tuesday. The Wildcats earned the #7 seed in the RPAC Tournament and will play #2 Paxton at home at 11:00 A.M.



Wauneta-Palisade

Wauneta-Palisade hosted Perkins County on Friday and trailed 28-12 at the half but had a huge third quarter where they outscored the Plainsmen 21-12 to cut the lead to just seven points. The Broncos went cold in the fourth as they only converted four points while the Plainsmen converted 12 points. Wauneta-Palisade lost to Perkins County, 52-37. Peyton Cox had 13 points and six rebounds to lead the team.


Saturday's road game against Garden County was canceled due to the weather.


The Broncos are 5-6 and will travel to Paxton on Thursday. Wauneta-Palisade earned the #3 seed in the West for the RPAC Tournament and will play #6 Hitchcock County on Saturday at 5:00 P.M. in Wallace.
