
Another week is in the books, and teams are now preparing for the RPAC Tournament, which starts on Friday and will run through February 1st. Check out how games played out last week, and find the RPAC bracket at the bottom of the blog!
Alma
Alma traveled to Amherst on Tuesday to take on the Broncos. Alma jumped ahead early to take the 19-8 lead at the half. They battled through a Bronco surge in the second half to earn the win, 40-32. The Cardinals had 19 steals as a team. Chayse Molzahn had 10 points, eight rebounds, and two steals; Kamryn Scott had eight points and four steals; Tierston Moore posted eight points, 13 rebounds, and five steals; and Kamri Neal had five points and 10 rebounds.
Thursday brought another strong defensive performance for Alma as they traveled to Hi-Line and got the 58-22 win. There were 24 steals were recorded for the Cardinals as a team. Scott had 20 points, three assists, and eight steals; Moore had 18 points, seven assists, and six steals; and Molzahn had six points and four steals.
On Friday night, Alma hosted Hitchcock County, had a quick start, and didn't let off the gas. The Cardinals defeated the Falcons 70-30. Scott posted 19 points, four assists, and four steals; Moore had 16 points, 10 rebounds, six assists, and five steals; and Vayden Epp added nine points, four rebounds, and four assists.
Alma is 12-3 on the year and is off until the RPAC Tournament, which will begin on Friday. The Cardinals are the #2 seed in the East and will play #7 Hi-Line at Bertrand at 7:30 P.M. CT.
Arapahoe
Arapahoe hosted Loomis on Tuesday and earned the 54-30 win. The defense strongly contributed to the Warrior's win, with 34 rebounds and 18 steals as a team. Sawyer Shafer had 19 points, four rebounds, and five steals; Desi Farner added nine points, and Suttyn Shafer added four steals.
On Friday night, Arapahoe traveled to Hi-Line to take on the Bulls and earned the 61-44 win. Defense was strong again as they tallied 24 rebounds and 25 steals. Sawyer Shafer had 17 points and five steals; Emma Strand had 13 points, four rebounds, and four assists; and Ruby McCune and McKenzie Ewoldt each added four steals.
Arapahoe is 10-5 and will travel to Axtell on Tuesday before the RPAC Tournament begins on Friday. The Warriors are the #4 seed in the East and will face #5 Cambridge in Bertrand at 4:30 P.M. CT.
Bertrand
Bertrand hosted Southwest on Friday and lost to the Roughriders 63-26.
On Saturday, the Vikings traveled to Overton. Bertrand trailed 11-5 after the first quarter and 25-13 at the half. The Vikings made adjustments after the half and hung with Overton, but it was too big of a lead and lost to the Eagles 49-35.
Bertrand is 6-9 and will host Maywood-Hayes Center on Tuesday before the RPAC Tournament begins on Friday. The Vikings are the #6 seed on the East and will play #3 Southern Valley at 6:00 P.M. CT at home.
Cambridge
Medicine Valley traveled to town on Tuesday, and the Trojans got out to an 18-5 lead, but the Raiders hung around in the second quarter, outscoring Cambridge 14-13 to make the halftime score 31-18. Cambridge went on to win, 51-33. Mallory Springer had 16 points, 18 rebounds, six assists, four steals, and two blocks; Elisabeth Kubik had 14 points, 10 rebounds, and three steals; Aspen Webb had six points and three rebounds; and Brooklyn Holtze had six points and four rebounds.
On Friday, Sutherland traveled to Cambridge, and the Trojans won 43-24. This was an RPAC Rundown Featured Matchup and you can read more about this game by clicking here.
Cambridge traveled to Maxwell on Saturday and have put together a little bit of a winning streak before the tournament as they defeated the Wildcats 46-39. Springer led the Trojans with 16 points and 13 rebounds; Holtze had 11 points and three rebounds; Webb had seven points, and Kubik added seven points and 10 rebounds.
The Trojans are 6-7 and will host Wauneta-Palisade on Tuesday before the RPAC Tournament. Cambridge is the #5 seed in the East and will face #4 Arapahoe in Bertrand at 4:30 P.M. CT.
Dundy County Stratton
On Tuesday, the Tigers traveled to Hitchcock County and won 47-32. Kimberly Escobar led the team with 11 points; Stephanie Escobar had 10 points; Emily Schack had eight points and four rebounds; and Abi Spargo had eight points, 15 rebounds, and five steals.
Medicine Valley hosted the Tigers on Thursday and DCS earned the 55-21 win. K. Escobar had 12 points and five steals; Ava Lutz had 10 points; Clara Spargo had 10 points and six rebounds; and A. Spargo added seven points, 11 rebounds, and three steals.
On Saturday, DCS traveled to Loomis to battle with the Wolves. After the first quarter of play, the two were knotted at 15, but the Tigers went on an 18-5 run in the second quarter to make the score 33-20 at the half. They kept the pressure on in the second half to secure the 64-42 win.
The Tigers are 10-3 and will host Wallace on Tuesday before the RPAC Tournament begins on Friday. DCS is the #2 seed in the West and will play #7 Wallace in Maxwell at 7:30 P.M. CT.
Hi-Line
On Tuesday, the Bulls traveled to Southwest and fell to the Roughriders, 57-17. Olivia Wall led Hi-Line with five points; Lauryn Ruda added four points, and Bentley Stubbs scored four and had five rebounds.
On Thursday, Alma traveled to Hi-Line, and the Bulls lost 58-22.
Arapahoe traveled to Hi-Line on Friday and had a slow first half as they trailed 31-17 but found a spark out of the break, but it came up short, 61-44. EllaRay Koch had 18 points, four rebounds, and four assists; Stubbs added seven points and five rebounds; Wall had six points and nine rebounds; and Shelby Jurjens had six points and seven rebounds.
The Bulls are 2-11 and will host Overton on Tuesday before they begin the RPAC Tournament on Friday. Hi-Line earned the #7 seed in the East and will play #2 Alma in Bertrand at 7:30 P.M. CT.
Hitchcock County
Hitchcock County hosted Dundy County Stratton and fell to the Tigers 47-32. Kaiah Johnson had 11 points and seven rebounds; Raegan Hagan had nine points and four rebounds; and Riley Hagan had seven points, five rebounds, and four assists.
On Friday, the Falcons traveled to Alma and just couldn't keep up with Alma's fast pace. Finding the bottom of the net was also challenging for the Falcons as they lost to the Cardinals 70-30.
Sutherland traveled to town on Saturday to take on Hitchcock County. The Falcons earned the 56-34 win. This was an RPAC Rundown Featured Matchup, and you can read more about this game by clicking here.
Hitchcock County is 5-7 on the year and will travel to Paxton on Tuesday before the RPAC Tournament on Friday. The Falcons are the #5 seed in the West and will face #4 Maxwell at 4:40 P.M. CT in Maxwell.
Maxwell
The Wildcats hosted Maywood-Hayes Center on Tuesday and lost to the Wolves 72-32. Jenna Miller led the team with eight points; Kristyn Cheek had seven points and nine rebounds; and Emory Christensen added seven points and six rebounds.
On Friday, Maxwell traveled to South Loup and got a bounce-back win against the Bobcats, 63-27.
Maxwell hosted Cambridge on Saturday and fell behind early, 11-4 after the first quarter. They had a strong second quarter, outscoring Cambridge 13-8 to make the halftime score 19-17. The Wildcats had too big of a hole to dig out of and fell to the Trojans 46-39.
Maxwell is now 6-8 on the year and will travel to Brady on Tuesday and Sandhills Valley on Thursday before they begin the RPAC Tournament. The Wildcats are the #4 seed in the West and will face #5 Hitchcock County at 4:30 P.M. CT at home.
Maywood-Hayes Center
The Wolves traveled to Maxwell on Tuesday, and after a hot start, MHC earned the 72-32 win. Blayklee Farr led the team with 22 points; Caylie Softley had 17 points, five assists, and three steals; Kesli Cox added 15 points and four steals; and Karissa Stengel had seven points and seven rebounds.
On Friday, MHC had another big win; they defeated Sandhills/Thedford 50-25. Farr had another big game as she posted 14 points, three rebounds, and two blocks to lead the Wolves, and Stengel added 12 points, seven rebounds, and five assists.
MHC is now 13-2 on the year and will travel to Bertrand on Tuesday before they begin the RPAC Tournament. The Wolves are the #1 seed in the West and will face #8 Sutherland at 3:00 P.M. CT in Maxwell.
Medicine Valley
Medicine Valley traveled to Cambridge on Tuesday and fell to the Trojans 51-33. Remmi Stout led all scoring with 20 points and added 13 rebounds and seven steals.
On Thursday, Medicine Valley hosted Dundy County Stratton and struggled to find the bottom of the basket until the fourth quarter, where they scored 12 points; the Raiders lost to the Tigers 55-21. Haylie Gustafson led Medicine Valley with 10 points and six rebounds.
Mullen hosted Medicine Valley on Saturday, and the Raiders lost to the Broncos 51-29. Stout once again led all scoring with 19 points, 13 rebounds, five steals, and three blocks.
The Raiders are 1-12 on the year and will host Sutherland on Tuesday before they begin the RPAC Tournament. Medicine Valley is the #8 seed in the East and will face #1 Southwest in Bertrand at 3:00 P.M. CT.
Paxton
On Thursday, Paxton traveled to Creek Valley and got a monster win, 59-10. The Tigers held the Storm to two points at the half while their defense was strong, totaling 33 rebounds and 26 steals. Jaleigh Hansen led the Tigers with 13 points; Jordan Clouse had 10 points and five steals; Jakcee Mitchell had eight points, five rebounds, and three steals; and Ella Fote added five points, six rebounds, three assists, and six steals.
On Friday, Paxton traveled to take on Wallace. The Tigers outscored the Wildcats 17-1 in the first quarter. Wallace responded in the second quarter to outscore Paxton 10-7, which made the halftime score 24-11. Paxton surged out of the half to win the game 55-23. Mitchell led the team with 13 points and seven rebounds, and Emmalee Nicholson had 12 points and 11 rebounds.
Paxton is 7-5 and will host Hitchcock County on Tuesday before they begin their run in the RPAC Tournament. The Tigers are the #3 seed in the West and will take on #6 Wauneta-Palisade at 6:00 P.M. CT in Maxwell.
Southern Valley
Southern Valley started their week with a trip out west to take on Chase County. It was a back-and-forth game, but the Eagles held on for the win as they beat the Longhorns 45-43. Tori Bose led the team with 17 points and 10 rebounds, and Adi Hunt added nine points and six steals.
The Eagles traveled to Holdrege on Friday to battle with the Dusters. Southern Valley defeated Holdrege 51-44. Hunt had 20 points, 12 rebounds, and five steals, and Bose had 12 points, six rebounds, three steals, and three blocks.
Southwest traveled to the nest to take on the Eagles for their make-up game. After the first quarter, it was knotted at 10-10. Southwest went into the locker room with a 21-18 lead, and they came out with the momentum to lead 36-25 lead as they went into the final quarter. Southern Valley flipped the momentum in the fourth quarter as they outscored the Roughriders 17-10, but it wasn't enough as Southwest defeated Southern Valley 46-42. Hunt had 14 points, eight rebounds, seven assists, and nine steals; Bose added six points, six rebounds, and six blocks; and Bryn Baily had nine points, six rebounds, and three blocks.
Southern Valley is now 12-3 on the year and off until Friday's RPAC Tournament. The Eagles are the #3 seed in the East and will face #6 Bertrand at 6:00 P.M. CT in Bertrand.
Southwest
On Tuesday, Hi-Line hosted the Roughriders, and Southwest jumped out to a hot start and never let up as they defeated the Bulls 57-17. Defense was key for Southwest, as they had 26 rebounds and steals. Aspen Billeter had 16 points, three rebounds, and four steals; Anastasia Gallegos had 15 points and three steals; Kyra Nelms had nine points and five rebounds; and Allison VanPelt had eight points and six steals.
Southwest traveled to Bertrand on Friday to take on the Vikings, and they picked up where they left off on Tuesday night as they won 63-26. Billeter set a new school record for points in a game with 30 points. Billeter also added nine rebounds and four steals to her stat sheet. VanPelt contributed 11 points, five assists, and five steals as well.
Southwest traveled to Southern Valley to take on the Eagles for their make-up game. After the first quarter, it was knotted at 10-10. Sutherland
Sutherland had a pair of road games this week as they traveled to Cambridge on Friday and Hitchcock County on Saturday.

Wallace
Wallace traveled to South Platte on Thursday and lost to the Blue Knights, 67-50.
The Wildcats hosted Paxton on Friday. The Tigers outscored the Wildcats 17-1 in the first quarter. Wallace responded in the second quarter to outscore Paxton 10-7, which made the halftime score 24-11, but Paxton surged out of the half to win the game 55-23.
Wallace is now 5-9 and will travel to Dundy County Stratton on Tuesday before the RPAC Tournament starts on Friday. Wallace is the #7 seed in the West and will play #2 seed Dundy County Stratton at 7:30 P.M. CT in Maxwell.
Wauneta-Palisade
The Broncos traveled to Perkins County on Friday to take on the Plainsmen. Wauneta-Palisade jumped out to the 14-8 lead after the first quarter and then had to weather the storm to hold off Perkins County for the last three quarters to seal the win, 51-48.
On Saturday, Wauneta-Palisade had another close battle. They hosted Garden County and came up short, 35-31.
Wauneta-Palisade is 5-8 on the year and will host travel to Cambridge on Tuesday before the RPAC Tournament begins on Friday. The Broncos are the #6 seed in the West and will face #3 Paxton at 6:00 P.M. CT in Maxwell.
