RPAC Girls Basketball Results as of 12/7

The winter sports season began on Thursday, and teams jumped right into their schedules. Check out the blog to see how things shook out on the opening weekend of the winter sports season.

Alma


Alma opened their season hosting Bertrand on Thursday. The Cardinals defeated the Vikings 67-23. This was an RPAC Rundown Featured Matchup -- Click here to view the recap blog. Alma earned 23 steals as a team and only had 10 turnovers as a team. Kinley Ford had 22 points, four assists, and five steals; Vayden Epp had 10 points, two rebounds, two assists, and four steals; Kamri Neal had nine points, three rebounds, and two steals; Tierston Moore had eight points, seven rebounds, six assists, and four steals; Kamryn Scott had eight points, six rebounds, three assists, and three steals; and Aysha Neal had five points and three steals.


On Friday, the Cardinals traveled to Kenesaw and jumped out to an early lead, leading 26-3 after the first quarter. Alma kept the pressure high and led 41-11 at the half. Alma went on to win 58-21. The Cardinals had a similar stat line as Thursday, 26 steals and 10 turnovers as a team. Ford had 25 points, two rebounds, three assists, and seven steals; Scott had 12 points, four rebounds, five assists, and six steals; Epp had seven points and five steals; Neal had four points and two steals; and Moore had four points, four rebounds, two assists, and three steals.


Alma starts their season with a 2-0 record and will have road games next week, traveling to Blue Hill on Thursday and Wilcox-Hildreth on Friday.



Arapahoe


Arapahoe hosted Overton on Thursday to begin their season. The Warriors trailed 11-7 after the first quarter but found momentum in the second quarter, outscoring the Eagles 17-6 and taking a 24-17 lead at the half. Arapahoe weathered a 3rd quarter battle and held on to secure the 49-40 win. The Warriors had 23 steals in the game, with Emma Strand and Suttyn Shafer each having five steals, Chloe Gooden and Sawyer Shafer each having four steals, Clara Hilker having three steals, and Ryleigh Tidyman having two steals. Sawyer Shafer had 15 points, nine rebounds, and three assists; Hilker had 12 points and 17 rebounds; Suttyn Shafer had eight points, five rebounds, and five assists; Gooden had eight points and three rebounds; and Tidyman had four points and six rebounds.


Arapahoe starts the season with a 1-0 record. The Warriors are participating in the Cattle Trail Tournament in McCook, which runs December 9th, 12th, and 13th. Arapahoe will play Decatur Community, KS, on Tuesday at 3:30 P.M. CT at McCook High School.



Bertrand


Bertrand traveled to Alma on Thursday and lost, 67-23. This was an RPAC Rundown Featured Matchup -- Click here to view the recap blog. Adrian Sand had 11 points; Livia Phillips had five points; Addison Andersen had four points, four rebounds, three assists, and two steals; Ashlynn Edgren had three rebounds; Malia Brown had four rebounds; and Alyvia Rabe had four rebounds.


On Friday, Bertrand hosted Axtell. The Vikings trailed 27-11 at the half and lost to the Wildcats, 45-25. Andersen had 11 points, five rebounds, three assists, and two steals; Sand had four points, three rebounds, and three assists; Phillips had four points and six rebounds; Rabe had three points and four rebounds; Edgren had seven rebounds; Brown had five rebounds; and Baylee Kipp had three points.



Bertrand is 0-2 and will host Elm Creek on Monday, travel to Pleasanton on Friday, and travel to Loomis on Saturday.

Cambridge


The Trojans began the season on the road at Hitchcock County. Cambridge led 10-9 after the first quarter and extended that lead to 27-19 at the half. The Falcons outscored the Trojans 14-10 in the third quarter, but still had the lead, 37-33. Cambridge outscored the Falcons in the fourth quarter and won, 52-42. Brooklyn Holtze had 14 points, three rebounds, and four steals; Mallory Springer had 11 points, 13 rebounds, two assists, and one steal; Aspen Webb had nine points, five rebounds, two assists, and seven steals; Joslyn Holtze had eight points, two rebounds, and five steals; and Elisabeth Kubik had six points, three rebounds, four assists, and three steals.

Springer had eight points, seven rebounds, four steals, and six blocks; J. Holtze had four points, six rebounds, and three steals; Webb had five points, three rebounds, and two assists; and B. Holtze had eight points and seven rebounds.


Cambridge starts the year 1-1 and will host Southern Valley on Tuesday and South Loup on Friday.



Dundy County Stratton


Dundy County Stratton started their season on the road at Cambridge on Thursday. The Tigers defeated the Trojans 40-25. Clara Spargo had 15 points, four rebounds, three assists, two steals, and two blocks; Abi Spargo had 11 points, 14 rebounds, three assists, five steals, and two blocks; Ava Lutz had 10 points, three rebounds, and three steals; Kimberly Escobar had five rebounds, two assists, and seven steals; and Lexi Yrkoski had three rebounds and seven steals.


The Tigers are 1-0 to start the year and will play in the Cattle Trail Tournament, which runs December 19th, 12th, and 13th. DCS will play Wauneta-Palisade at 6:30 P.M. at McCook High School.

Hi-Line


Hi-Line traveled to Wilcox-Hildreth on Thursday to start the season. Early, the Bulls trailed 16-0 after the first quarter. Hi-Line got on the board in the second quarter and made the score 16-5 at the half. Coming out of the half, the Bulls found some momentum and cut the deficit to 20-13 heading into the final quarter. Hi-Line outscored the Falcons 17-6 in the final quarter to win the game, 30-26. Bentley Stubbs had 16 points, 13 rebounds, and two assists; Shelby Jurjens had seven points, 15 rebounds, and two steals; Whitney Wall had five points, six rebounds, two assists, three steals, and three blocks; Olivia Wall had eight rebounds and four steals; and Marayah Oberg had six rebounds. '


On Friday, Hi-Line hosted Ansley/Litchfield and trailed 15-1 after the first quarter. The Spartans kept the pressure on the Bulls and led 24-1 at the half. Ansley/Litchfield defeated Hi-Line, 48-14. O. Wall had five points and six rebounds; Jurjens had three points and five rebounds; Kara Brockman had three points, three rebounds, and two assists; Kylee Kubert had five rebounds; Dynastee Redden had six rebounds; Stubbs had four rebounds; and W. Wall had three points and two rebounds.


Hi-Line is 1-1 on the year and will travel to Maxwell on Tuesday, host Southern Valley on Thursday, and travel to Gothenburg on Saturday.


Hitchcock County


The Falcons began the season hosting Cambridge on Thursday. Hitchcock County trailed 10-9 after the first quarter and 27-19 at the half. The Falcons had a third-quarter surge and trailed 37-33 heading into the fourth. Cambridge found another gear, outscoring the Falcons 15-9 in the fourth, and defeated the Falcons 52-42. No stats have been uploaded at the time of writing this blog; once they are uploaded, we will update the blog.


Hitchcock County starts the year 0-1 and will play in the Cattle Trail Tournament, which runs December 9th, 12th, and 13th. Hitchcock County will face Southwest at 3:30 P.M. CT at McCook Community College on Tuesday.


Maxwell


Maxwell traveled to Sandhills/Thedford on Friday night and won 51-42. Madelyn Flock had 20 points and five rebounds; Kristyn Cheek had 10 points and 13 rebounds; Madelynn Nelson had 10 points, five rebounds, five assists, and three steals; and Emory Christensen had five points, eight rebounds, and four steals.


On Saturday, Maxwell hosted Cozad and led 11-9 after the first quarter. It was a tight second quarter as the Haymakers outscored the Wildcats 13-12, making the halftime score 23-22 in favor of Maxwell at the half. Cozad was able to tie it up as the third quarter ended, 36-36. Cozad stole the win, defeating Maxwell 50-46. Cheek had 17 points, eight rebounds, two assists, and five steals; Christensen had 14 points, 14 rebounds, three assists, three steals, and two blocks; Flock had seven points, three rebounds, and one assist; Rylynn Quick had six points and five rebounds; and Nelson had four rebounds and two steals.


Maxwell starts the year 1-1 and will host Hi-Line on Tuesday and travel to North Platte St. Pat's on Thursday.



Maywood-Hayes Center


Maywood-Hayes Center traveled to Wallace on Friday to start their season. The Wolves jumped out early with a 19-3 first quarter lead and just kept the pressure on as they were able to secure the 60-18 win. Caylie Softley had 24 points, three rebounds, and two steals; Haylie Gustafson had nine points, four rebounds, and four steals; Paytyn Stengel had six points, two assists, and four steals; Blayklee Farr had four points and three rebounds; Addison Richards had four points, four rebounds, three assists, and two blocks; Karissa Stengel had four points, four rebounds, seven assists, and seven steals; and Ava Messersmith had four points, three rebounds, and three steals.


The Wolves hosted Southwest on Saturday and led the Roughriders 23-10 after the first quarter. In the second quarter, it was a similar story as they were able to outscore the Roughriders 29-10 to make the halftime score 52-20. Southwest found a little bit of momentum in the second half, but the Wolves cruised to the 84-46 win. K. Stengel had 34 points, four rebounds, six assists, and four steals; Softley had 20 points and three steals; Gustafson had eight points and four rebounds; and Farr had eight points, five assists, and 10 steals.


MHC is 2-0 and will play in the Cattle Trail Tournament, which runs December 9th, 12th, and 13th. The Wolves will play Medicine Valley on Tuesday at 6:30 P.M. CT at McCook Community College.

Medicine Valley


Medicine Valley traveled to Southwest on Thursday to start the year. The Raiders trailed 15-8 after the first quarter and 35-15 at the half. Southwest went on to win the game, 50-26. Oakley Stout had nine points, eight rebounds, and three steals; Delaney Evans had seven points and five rebounds; Brooke Kotschwar had four points and eight rebounds; Kaedance Phelps had three points and three rebounds; and Jordiya Phillips had two points and six rebounds.


On Friday, the Raiders hosted Paxton and lost to the Tigers, 69-21. Kotschwar had six points and five rebounds; Evans had five points; Kamree Elsten had four points and three rebounds; Phillips had two points and six rebounds; Stout had two points, seven rebounds, three assists, and five steals; and Phelps had two points and four rebounds.


Medicine Valley is 0-2 to start the season and will play in the Cattle Trail Tournament, which runs December 9th, 12th, and 13th. They will face Maywood-Hayes Center on Tuesday at 6:30 P.M. CT at McCook Community College.


Paxton


Paxton hit the road to start the season, traveling to Anselmo-Merna on Thursday. Paxton led 8-4 after the first quarter and then found a groove in the second quarter to take the 26-5 lead at the half. The Coyotes outscored Paxton 8-0 in the third, but Paxton responded in the fourth to defeat Anselmo-Merna, 44-21. Jakcee Mitchell had 13 points, eight rebounds, and four steals; Addison Holm had nine points, four rebounds, three assists, and two steals; Natalie Jorgensen had eight points, two rebounds, two assists, and three steals; Ella Fote had seven points; Marlee Gleason had five points; and Jaleigh Hansen had six steals.


On Friday, Paxton traveled to Medicine Valley and jumped out to a 30-0 lead after the first quarter. The Tigers were cruising as they took the 51-5 lead at the half. Paxton went on to win, 69-21. Jorgensen had 18 points, two assists, and three steals; Fote had 12 points and two steals; Hansen had 10 points and two steals; Holm had eight points and six rebounds; Mitchell had eight points, seven rebounds, and two steals; Gleason had four points and six rebounds; and Reece Glinn had four steals.


Paxton is 2-0 to start the season and will host Brady on Friday and Potter-Dix on Saturday.

Southern Valley


The Eagles traveled to Minden on Thursday to start their season. Southern Valley had a slow start, trailing 9-4 after the first quarter, but found its groove as the game progressed. Ultimately, Southern Valley fell to Minden, 51-38. Emercen Lovitt had 22 points and six rebounds; Tori Bose had 13 points, 13 rebounds, three assists, and two blocks.


On Friday, Southern Valley hosted Elm Creek. Like Thursday night, the Eagles had a slower start, trailing 13-4 after the first quarter, but found momentum as the game went on. They lost to Elm Creek, 60-39. Bose had 16 points, 16 rebounds, and two blocks; Lovitt had 16 points, three rebounds, two assists, and three steals; Payton Adams had four rebounds; and Mikah Schultz had four rebounds.


Southern Valley starts the year 0-2 and will travel to Cambridge on Tuesday, travel to Hi-Line on Thursday, and host Overton on Saturday.


Southwest


Southwest started the season at home against Medicine Valley. The Roughriders jumped out to a 15-8 lead after the first quarter and were able to extend that lead as they went into the half with a 35-15 lead. Southwest went on to win, 50-26. On Saturday, Southwest traveled to Maywood-Hayes Center and fell behind after the first quarter, 23-10. The Roughriders trailed 52-20 at the half. Southwest lost to the Wolves, 84-46. No stats have been uploaded at the time of writing this blog; once they are uploaded, we will update the blog.


Southwest starts the year 1-1 and will play in the Cattle Trail Tournament, which runs December 9th, December 12th, and December 13th. The Roughriders will play Hitchcock County at 3:30 P.M. CT at McCook Community College.



Sutherland


The Sailors hosted Mullen on Thursday to start the season. Sutherland lost to the Broncos, 58-23. Phoenix Brown had 14 points, 14 rebounds, and four steals; Payten Weber had three rebounds; Gracie Pearson had three points, six rebounds, and three steals; Leah Harper had three rebounds; Eliana Dyer had three points, two rebounds, and three steals; and Bryer Brown had three rebounds and two steals.


Sutherland is 0-1 and will travel to Brady on Monday and South Platte on Saturday.

Wallace


Wallace traveled to Wauneta-Palisade on Thursday, fell behind 36-6 at the half, and lost to the Broncos 48-26. Reagan Finley had eight points and five rebounds; Kaley Sauser had seven points, six rebounds, and two steals; Regan Martin had six points and 11 rebounds; Elliana Robertson had three points, nine rebounds, and six blocks; and Afton Nelms had two points and six rebounds.


On Friday, Wallace hosted Maywood-Hayes Center. The Wildcats lost to the Wolves, 60-18. Robertson had eight points, five rebounds, and two blocks; Sauser had five points and four rebounds; Finley had three points, four rebounds, and three steals; Nelms had two points, four rebounds, and two assists; and Martin had three rebounds.


Wallace is 0-2 and will host Sandhills/Thedford on Thursday and Hyannis on Friday.



Wauneta-Palisade


On Thursday, the Broncos hosted Wallace. Wauneta-Palisade jumped out to an 18-2 lead and extended that lead to 36-6 at the half. The Broncos went on to win the game, 48-26. No stats have been uploaded at the time of writing this blog; once they are uploaded, we will update the blog.


On Friday, Wauneta-Palisade traveled to Creek Valley. The Bronocos took a 24-6 lead after the first quarter and extended their lead to 45-6 at the half. Wauneta-Palisade won the game, 54-23.
