On Thursday, December 18th, 2025, Medicine Valley will host Hitchcock County for some hoops action. There's a chance this could be a night of competitive basketball. Let's take a look at the squads and preview the teams.

Hitchcock County Girls

  • So far this season, Hitchcock County is 1-3. Their victory came against Medicine Valley on Saturday, 42-34, in the Cattle Trail Tournament.

  • Co-Head Coaches Mike Tines and Loren Wagner

  • The Falcons so far this year are averaging just under 40 points per game, at 39.3 per game.

  • On the defensive side, they are holding their opponents to 46.3 points per game.

  • This team does have solid experience and depth. They have five seniors, including Riley Hagan, Reese Tines, Raegan Hagan, Asia Homma, Madysen Carlson, and Aspen Hazlitt. 11 players on the roster have logged minutes this season, too.

  • Carlson is averaging double-digit rebounds on the season at 13 per game. Homma leads the team in scoring at nine points per game.

  • As we mentioned, this team has a lot of experience and has played a solid schedule; some of their best basketball is ahead of them.

  • The Falcons are in the D2-9 District with Cambridge, Dundy County Stratton, Medicine Valley, and Wallace.

Medicine Valley Girls

  • The Raiders are 0-5 this season. They have battled some really good teams this year, too.

  • Head Coach Derek Bantam, 21 years of coaching.

  • The Raiders are still working on getting their offense going, averaging 21.2 points per game.

  • On defense, they are allowing 59.4 points per game.

  • Oakley Stout, a sophomore, leads the team in scoring at 7.0 points per game and also in rebounding at 6.6 rebounds per game.

  • Delaney Evans averages just over four points per game this season.

  • The Raiders are searching for their first win of the season, but like any Derek Bantam led team, I expect to see them play hard.

  • The Raiders are in the D2-9 District with Cambridge, Dundy County Stratton, Hitchcock County, and Wallace.

Hitchcock County Boys

  • The Falcons are 1-3 so far this season.

  • Head Coach: Tyler Pool, first season.

  • The Falcons have put up some solid numbers on the offensive end, averaging 56.5 points per game.

  • On defense, the Falcons are allowing 50 points per game.

  • Following big seasons last year, Jayce Hauxwell and Adam Kisker have picked up where they left off. Hauxwell is averaging nearly 20 points and 9.3 rebounds. Kisker is at about 14 points per game and also 9.3 rebounds. He blocks one shot per game, too.

  • Jack Baker and Grady Erickson each score about 10 points per game, too.

  • It has been a bit of a slow start for the Falcons, but this group has a ton of talent and experience.

  • Hitchcock County is in the D1-12 Subdistrict with Maxwell, Maywood-Hayes Center, Morrill, and North Platte St. Pat's.

  • Head Coach: Jason Maier, 21 years coaching, nine at Medicine Valley.

  • The Raiders are averaging 47.6 points per game this season. They are allowing 52.2 points per night. Those numbers are a touch skewed due to a loss to DCS on Saturday in the Cattle Trail Tournament, 64-25.

  • In the Cattle Trail Tourney, Medicine Valley won over Hitchcock County 60-59 in the semifinals.

  • Three Raiders are averaging double-figures in scoring as Lucas Einspahr is at 15.2 points per night, Mason Roblee at 13.6 points per game, and Ethan Brown at 13.4 points.

  • The Raiders have done a nice job taking care of the ball this season; they average 11 turnovers per game.

  • Medicine Valley is in the D2-8 Subdistrict with Ansley-Litchfield, Brady, Sandhills/Thedford, and SEM.
