On Tuesday, January 6th, 2026, Arapahoe and Maxwell will battle in a girls and boys double-header. Girls varsity is scheduled for 6:00 P.M. CT boys to follow at 7:30 P.M. CT.
Maxwell Girls
Maxwell holds a record of 3-4 this season. They have dropped three straight games.
Head Coach: Kole Harrach, his third season at the helm.
On offense, the Wildcats are scoring on average 44.8 points per game. On defense, they are holding their opponents to an average of 44.1 points per game.
The top two scorers for Maxwell are a pair of seniors: Maddy Flock at 12 points per game and Kristyn Cheek at 11 points per game. Cheek averages about eight rebounds per game.
Last season, Flock hit 44 three-pointers, and so far this season, she has 18, so she can knock down shots from the perimeter at a high clip.
As a team, the Wildcats are shooting 32% from the field.
Maxwell is in Class C2 and in Region 3.
Arapahoe Girls
The Warriors are 7-2 this season. They have won four of their last five games.
Head Coach: Preston Blackmore, 9th year coaching at Arapahoe.
The Warriors are a solid offensive team, averaging 49 points per game, and they are outstanding on defense, allowing just 33.8 points per game.
Junior Clara Hilker has been dominant for the Warriors, averaging a double-double at 14.9 points per game and 12.5 rebounds per game.
Also, seniors Emma Strand and Ryleigh Tidyman have been key on the glass at 7.6 and 6.6 rebounds per game.
Sophomores Suttyn and Sawyer Shafer each are averaging around 13 points per game as well for Arapahoe. They also both average at least four steals per game, so they are effective players on both ends of the floor.
Arapahoe is in the D1-11 subdistrict, which includes Hi-Line, Maywood-Hayes Center, Southern Valley, and Southwest.
What will be key in this matchup is taking care of the ball. Arapahoe is elite at forcing turnovers and making teams play fast and out of control. Maxwell has a number of players with varsity experience, and they have a good scoring punch with Cheek and Flock, so we will see what prevails between those factors.
Maxwell Boys
Maxwell is 2-6 so far this season. They have dropped four of their last five games.
Head Coach: Bryce Byrn, his third season as the head coach for the Wildcats.
So far, the Wildcats are averaging 42.1 points per game on offense, so they are still working to get their offense going.
Maxwell is allowing their opponents to score about 60 points per game.
Senior Jesse Reyes leads the team in scoring at 14.3 points per game on average.
As a team, the Wildcats are grabbing 28.1 rebounds per game.
Maxwell is in the D1-12 Subdistrict, which includes Hitchcock County, Maywood-Hayes Center, Morrill, and North Platte St. Pat's.
Arapahoe Boys
Arapahoe is 0-9 this season. Most recently, they fell to Franklin in the 3rd and 4th place last week.
Head Coach: John Strand, 11 years at the helm at Arapahoe.
This is a young team with many players getting their first varsity experience this year.
On offense, Arapahoe has struggled to get things going, averaging 24.5 points per game. On defense, they are allowing opponents to score about 60 points per game.
Junior Aidan Roush leads Arapahoe in scoring at 9.4 points per game; the second-leading scorer is senior Hayden Sich at 7.4 points per game. Sich also grabs 9.2 rebounds per game on average.
Arapahoe is in the D1-11 subdistrict with Bertrand, Cambridge, Southern Valley, and Southwest.
In this game, similar to the girls' game, turnovers could be the difference. Both teams average more than 20 per game. So whoever can take care of the ball may be able to secure the win.
