The RPAC Volleyball Tournament began action on Thursday afternoon at four sites across the conference. For the West, #1 Maywood-Hayes Center and #2 Dundy County Stratton and for the East, #1 Southwest and #2 Cambridge.
Lots of volleyball was played and we now have our brackets set and ready for Monday. Let's dive into the action beginning with the top half of the West bracket.
#1 Maywood-Hayes Center hosted the top half of the bracket in Maywood and began the tournament against #8 Sutherland. The Sailors came out ready to play and stunned the Wolves taking set one 26-24. MHC responded and took control of the match winning the next three sets with scores of 25-13, 25-16, and 25-12 to win the match, 3-1. The Wolves advanced to the next round and Sutherland fell to the consolation bracket.
In game two, #5 Wauneta-Palisade faced #4 Wallace. Wauneta-Palisade took set one 25-12, Wallace took set two 25-12, and then the Broncos took sets three and four with set scores of 25-23 and 25-16 to take the match, 3-1. Wauneta-Palisade moved on and the Wildcats fell to the consolation bracket.
In the next round #1 MHC faced #5 Wauneta-Palisade. The Broncos started out on top as they took set one, 25-19, but MHC took the next three sets 25-14, 25-11, and 25-17, to take the match, 3-1. The Wolves advanced to the semifinals and Wauneta-Palisade fell to the consolation bracket.
In the consolation bracket, #8 Sutherland faced #4 Wallace. The Wildcats swept the Sailors, 2-0, with set scores of 25-22 and 25-18. Wallace advanced in the consolation match and Sutherland's tournament concluded.
#2 Dundy County Stratton hosted the bottom half of the West bracket.
#3 Maxwell and #6 Hitchcock County kicked off the action. Maxwell took set one 25-16 and then Hitchcock County took the next three sets, 25-21, 26-24, and 25-23, to take the match 3-1. The Falcons advanced and Maxwell fell to the consolation bracket. For Hitchcock County, Kaiah Johnson had 13 kills, Asia Homma had 11 kills, and Riley Hagan had 10 kills. Raegan Hagan had 26 digs and 25 assists, Riley Hagan had 25 digs, Jill McArthur had 23 digs and 13 assists, Asiah Homma had 20 digs, and Kaiah Johnson had 10 digs.
#2 Dundy County Stratton faced #7 Paxton. DCS took set one 25-12, Paxton took set two 25-22, and then DCS took sets three and four 25-22 and 25-16, to win the match 3-1. Dundy County Stratton advanced to the next round and Paxton fell to the consolation bracket.
In the next round #2 Dundy County Stratton faced #6 Hitchcock County. The Falcons swept the Tigers, 3-0, with set scores of 25-23, 25-15, and 25-22. Hitchcock County advanced to the semifinals and Dundy County Stratton fell to the consolation bracket. For Hitchcock County, Kaiah Johnson had 14 kills and Riley Hagan had seven kills. Jill McArthur had 19 digs and 10 assists, Asia Homma had 17 digs, Riley Hagan had 12 digs, Raegan Hagan had 11 digs and 19 assists.
#1 Maywood-Hayes Center will face #6 Hitchcock County in the semifinals for the West. In the consolation games, #5 Wauneta-Palisade and #3 Maxwell will battle as well as #2 DCS and #4 Wallace. Games will be hosted by Maywood-Hayes Center and played in Hayes Center. (See bracket at the bottom of the blog for more specific details)
Now let's break down the top half of the East bracket.
#1 Southwest hosted the top half of the bracket and began the tournament with #8 Medicine Valley and earned the 3-0 sweep with set scores of 25-15, 25-14, and 25-14. Southwest advanced and Medicine Valley fell to the consolation bracket. For Southwest, Anikka Nelms had 11 kills and four blocks, Kyra Nelms had nine kills, and Atleigh Nelms had eight kills and four aces. Allison VanPelt had 13 digs, Anastasia Gallegos had three aces, and Aspen Billeter had 31 assists and three blocks.
#5 Southern Valley faced #4 Bertrand in the next match and it was a five-set thriller. Bertrand took set one 25-20, Southern Valley took sets two and three 27-25 and 25-21, Bertrand took set four 25-18, and the Eagles took the fifth and deciding set, 15-9 to win the match, 3-2. Southern Valley advanced and Bertrand fell to the consolation round. For Bertrand, Katelyn Evans had 21 kills and four blocks, Brooklyn Evans had 18 kills and 25 digs, and Shelby Schoene had 10 kills, 16 digs, and four blocks. Gracie Hock had 12 digs, Livia Philips had 12 digs, Addy Sand had three aces and 12 digs and Addison Andersen had 24 digs and 53 assists.
In the next round #1 Southwest swept #5 Southern Valley, 3-0, with set scores of 25-21, 25-22, and 25-10. Southwest advanced to the semifinals and Southern Valley fell to the consolation bracket. For Southwest, Atleigh Nelms had 12 kills and seven digs, Kyra Nelms had 11 kills, two aces, and two blocks, Allison VanPelt had 20 digs and three aces, Anastasia Gallegos had nine digs, and Aspen Billeter had 30 assists and 12 digs. For Medicine Valley, Remmi Stout had eight kills and seven digs, Haylie Gustafson had two blocks, 12 digs, and five assists, and Kamree Elsten had eight digs.
In the consolation match, #4 Bertrand faced #8 Medicine Valley. Bertrand took set one 25-18, Medicine Valley took set two 26-24, and Bertrand took the third set 25-17 to win the match, 2-1. Bertrand advanced in the consolation bracket and Medicine Valley is finished in the tournament. For Bertrand, Brooklyn Evans had 12 kills, three aces, and 15 digs, Katelyn Evans had seven kills, four aces, and two blocks, Addy Sand had three aces, Gracie Hock had 12 digs, Shelby Schoene had five kills and 11 digs, and Addison Andersen had seven digs and 28 assists. For Medicine Valley, Remmi Stout had nine kills, Kamree Elsten had three aces, Kenley Cole had eight digs, Oakley Stout had eight digs, and Haylie Gustafson had eight digs, and five assists.
#2 Cambridge hosted the bottom half of the East bracket.
#3 Alma and #4 Arapahoe started the tournament and it was also a five-set match. Alma took set one 25-20, Arapahoe took set two 25-22, Alma took set three 25-14, Alma took set four 25-19, and Arapahoe took set five 15-13 and the match, 3-2. Arapahoe advanced to the next round and Alma fell to the consolation bracket. For Arapahoe, Clara Hilker had 11 kills, six aces, two blocks, and 14 digs, Emma Strand had 10 kills, Rylee Bahe had 16 digs and 24 assists, Desi Farner had 13 digs, Sage Larson ahd 11 digs, and Sawyer Shafer had 14 assists.
#2 Cambridge and #7 Hi-Line were next and Cambridge earned the 3-0 sweep over the Bulls with set scores of 25-13, 25-10, and 25-5. Cambridge advanced to the next round and Hi-Line fell to the consolation bracket. For Cambridge, Brooklyn Holtze had nine kills, Erin Johnson had nine kills and six aces, Elisabeth Kubik had four aces, and Mallory Springer had 10 digs and 22 assists. For Hi-Line, Malia Viter had three kills, Rilee Schutz had three kills and 10 digs, Bentley Stubbs had 10 digs, and Ellaray Koch had nine assists.
In the consolation match, #3 Alma faced #7 Hi-Line. Alma took set one 25-20, Hi-Line took set two 25-22, and Alma took set three 25-20, and the match, 2-1. Alma advances in the consolation bracket and Hi-Line is finished in the tournament.
#1 Southwest will face #2 Cambridge in the East semifinals. In the consolation matches, #6 Arapahoe will face #4 Bertrand, and #5 Southern Valley will face #3 Alma. Southwest will host the matches on Monday. (See bracket at the bottom of the blog for more specific details) For Arapahoe, Desi Farner had seven kills and 12 digs, Emma Strand had seven kills, Clara Hilker had 13 digs, Suttyn Shafer had 11 digs, Sawyer Shafer had 11 assists, and Rylee Bahe had 17 assists.
