The RPAC Boys Basketball Tournament Continues, Semifinal Matchups are Locked In

On Tuesday, the RPAC Boys Basketball Tournament continued. For the East games were played in Southern Valley. The West was at Paxton. Reminder that the boys tournament continues on Friday in Wallace for the West and for the East at Southwest.

Now for the results.


We begin with the consolation bracket.


For the first games of the day, on the West it was #4 seeded Paxton versus #8 seeded Wauneta-Palisade. Paxton took the game by a final of 51-27. Wyatt Hilbert had 14 points for the Broncos. They are now done in the RPAC Tournament.


Paxton was paced by Maddex McConnell’s 17 points. The Tigers will now play #7 Maxwell on Friday at Wallace at 4:30 P.M. CT.

On the East side #4 Medicine Valley versus #8 Arapahoe.


Medicine Valley took care of business, winning big, 58-17. For Arapahoe, Aidan Roush had 5 points. The Raiders were led by 14 points from Mason Roblee and Ethan Brown.


Arapahoe is done in the RPAC Tournament.


The Raiders will now play #6 Southwest on Friday at Southwest at 4:30 P.M. CT.

In the second game on the West, it was #6 Sutherland versus #7 seeded Maxwell. Maxwell took control of this game in the first half. They led 28-13 at halftime.


Maxwell continued to dominate and closed out the game, winning 60-35. Jesse Reyes led Maxwell with 20 points, Owen Pagel had 14, and Jagger Kleewein scored 13.


They will now play #4 Paxton on Friday at Wallace at 4:30 P.M. CT.


For Sutherland, Jackson Saner scored 10, and Zayn Green had 7. The Sailors are now done in the RPAC Tournament.

On the East side, it’s #6 seeded Southwest against #7 seeded Southern Valley. This one was a close battle as at halftime Southwest led 35-34.The second half remained tight, and Southwest won 68-60.


Southwest was led by 40 points from Houston Billeter, which is a new school record for points in a game. Jacob Barber scored 15. Southwest will now play Medicine Valley on Friday at 4:30 P.M. CT at Southwest.


For Southern Valley, they are now done in the RPAC Tournament. Isaac Hamilton scored 21. Houston Hunt had 17 and five three-pointers.

Now for the winners bracket.


On the West, it was #5 seeded Hitchcock County playing #1 seeded Maywood-Hayes Center. The Falcons won 52-49.


This was a physical game, as both teams gave great effort. MHC led at halftime 24-19. The Falcons came out of the half knocking down threes.


Late in the game, Keenan Richards of MHC hit some layups to bring the Wolves within two. But a big three-pointer from Tekoa Hazlitt made it 44-39 with about three minutes to go.


Keenan Richards hit two late threes, but the Wolves didn’t have timeouts to stop the clock.


For MHC, Keenan Richards led with 25 points. They will now play #2 Dundy County Stratton on Friday at 6:00 P.M. CT in Wallace.


For the Falcons, Hazlitt and Jayce Hauxwell each had 13 points. Jack Baker had 12 points, including four three-pointers. They advance to take on #3 Wallace in the West Finals at 6:00 P.M. CT in Wallace.

For the East, it was #1 seeded Alma versus #5 seeded Hi-Line. The Cardinals continued their dominant run.Alma took a commanding lead in the first half, 36-6. They closed out the game, winning 56-8. Brody Diefenbaugh had 6 points for Hi-Line.


The Bulls will play on Friday at Southwest starting at 6:00 P.M. CT against #3 Cambridge.


Alma moves to the East Finals and will face #2 Bertrand on Friday at Southwest beginning at 7:30 P.M. CT.


Zavier Mitchell had 21 points, Tucker Biskup, and Crew Bennett had 9 points each.

And for the final games of the day.


On the West side, it was a rematch from last week, #2 seeded Dundy County Stratton versus #3 Wallace. A little over a week ago, the Tigers won by a final of 37-34, so we had another good game between these two teams.


Wallace had the lead at halftime, 28-21. This game was played fast, too. The Wildcats went on to win, 58-50.


DCS was led by 21 points from Ethan Latta. Dante Horner had 11. The Tigers will face #1 Maywood-Hayes Center on Friday at 6:00 P.M. CT in the consolation game at Wallace.


For the Wildcats, Max Hanson had 21 points, Colt Franklin had 15, and Micah Garrison had 13.The Wildcats advance to the West Finals and will face #5 Hitchcock County at 7:30 P.M. CT at Wallace.

And on the East, it was #2 seeded Bertrand against #3 seeded Cambridge.


Bertrand started hot and kept the pressure on the defense. The Vikings led 34-13 at halftime and went on to win, 62-44.


Cambridge was led by Hodge Raburn with 15 points and Braxton Mitchell with 12 points. The Trojans will face #5 Hi-Line in the consolation bracket on Friday at Southwest at 6:00 P.M. CT.


Bertrand was led by Thunder Nelson with 22 points and Scotty Bieker with 21 points. The Vikings advance to the East Finals for a rematch with #1 Alma. The two squared off to begin the season on December 4th, where the Cardinals got the win.
