RPAC Boys Basketball Results as of 1/11

This past week was a full one for RPAC Boys Basketball teams, as many had two or three games. Let's dive into the action from the previous week.
Alma
Alma had a full week with a trio of games. First, they played Axtell and won big, 90-14. The Cardinals had four players in double-figures as Zavier Mitchell had 18 points, Tucker Biksup had 15 on 6-6 shooting, Titus Epp was 5-5 with 12 points, Grady Faimon had 11 points, and Crew Bennett had 10. The Cardinals shot 61% from the field in the game too. Alma had 17 assists as a team, too.
Alma then played Superior and won 67-32. Biskup was efficient again, 12-15 with 31 points. Mitchell had 16 points for the Cardinals. As you can see this team just continues to impress, winning by a large margin.
The Cardinals played Norton on Friday, and again, won big 60-31. Biskup had 23 points, Faimon had 11, and Mitchell had 11 too. The team shot 57% from the field. An impressive week from the Cardinals as they had things working on offense and defense.
Alma is 10-1 and will play Amherst on Tuesday at home, then go to Hi-Line on Thursday, and Hitchcock County on the road on Saturday.
Arapahoe
Arapahoe had a full week, with three games. First, they played Maxwell and lost 66-44. That was an RPAC Rundown Featured matchup, so you can read the full game story here.
Next, the Warriors played against Medicine Valley and lost 63-18. The Warriors struggled to knock down shots, shooting 17% from the field. Hayden Sich had a solid game, scoring 12 points and grabbing seven rebounds.
Arapahoe then played Furnas County rival Southern Valley and dropped the matchup, 70-38. The Warriors were down 17-11 at the end of the first, so within striking distance, but they could not slow down the Eagles' offensive attack. Aidan Roush had 16 points to lead Arapahoe, and Houston Larson scored nine points.
Arapahoe is 0-12 now this season and will play at Loomis on Tuesday, then host Hi-Line on Friday.

Bertrand
The Vikings had a trio of games last week and went 3-0. First, they played Wilcox-Hildreth and won 62-38. The Vikings were able to jump out to a big lead in the first half, up 33-13, and never looked back. Thunder Nelson led Bertrand with 27 points and was solid on defense with seven steals. Scottie Bieker had 24 points and 10 rebounds.
Bertrand then played Southern Valley and won 51-40. This was an RPAC Rundown Featured Matchup, so you can read the full story here.
The Vikings then closed out the week with a big win over South Loup, 71-47.
Bertrand is now 10-3 and will face Southwest on the road on Friday.
Cambridge
The Cambridge Trojans had a lighter week, with just one game. They played one of their rivals, Southwest. Cambridge trailed at halftime, 41-36, as both teams were scoring at a high level. Cambridge, though, outscored the Roughriders 38-26 to get the win.
The Trojans had three players with at least 15 points; Braxton Mitchell had 17, Hodge Raburn had 20, and Brady Ahlemeyer had 28.
Cambridge has moved to .500, with a 5-5 record.
Dundy County Stratton
The Tigers of DCS played a trio of games and went 2-1. First, they played Chase County on Tuesday, 60-45. The Tigers led at halftime, 24-23. In the second half, Chase County outscored the Tigers 37-21. August Shaw led the scoring for DCS with 11 points, and Ethan Latta had 10 points.
Then, DCS played Decatur Community and bounced back, winning 56-45. Cooper Shaw had an excellent game with a double-double, scoring 19 points and grabbing 10 rebounds. August Shaw had 15 points for the Tigers. DCS forced 20 turnovers as well.
The Tigers ended the week on a high note, too, beating Sandhills Valley 58-17. Dante Horner totaled 12 points, and August Shaw had 10.
DCS has moved to 9-2 and will face Hitchcock County on Tuesday, January 13th, and then Loomis on Saturday, the 17th. Both games are at home.

Hitchcock County
The Falcons of Hitchcock County had two games last week and won each of them. First, the Falcons beat Southwest by a final of 71-55. Southwest led 19-8 after the first quarter. Following that, the Falcons got back on track and were able to take the lead in the second and lead 32-28 at halftime. From there, they pressed forward to get the win.
Jayce Hauxwell had 19 points, Adam Kisker and Jack Baker each had a double-double: 17 points and 10 rebounds, and 16 points and 10 rebounds. Tekoa Hazlitt had a nice game too, with 12 points.
Hitchcock County then faced Wauneta-Palisade and won 67-22. Hauxwell had 21 points, and Kisker had 18. The Falcons have been finding their stride recently, and their offense has been solid. They are now 6-4 and will play at Dundy County Stratton on Tuesday, the 13th, then host Alma on Friday, and go to Sutherland on Saturday.
Hi-Line
The Bulls played in a couple of games last week and dropped both of them. First, they fell to Maywood-Hayes Center, 59-20, on Tuesday.
Following that, the Bulls faced SEM and fell in that game too, 38-29. The Bulls have a record of 5-5 now. They will play Southwest at home on Tuesday the 13th, then Alma on the road on Thursday the 15th, and then go to Arapahoe on Friday the 16th.
Maywood-Hayes Center
The Wolves played a pair of games last week and went 2-0. Win streak is now at 3-0. First, they faced Hi-Line and won big, 59-20. Keenan Richards had 14 points, Kade Broz had 11 rebounds, and Oliver Anders had 11 points and 16 rebounds. The Wolves shot 55% from the field.
MHC then faced Paxton and won on Friday, and that was an RPAC Rundown Featured Matchup, so you can read the full recap here.
MHC is now 10-2 and will face Maxwell on Tuesday at home, then Sandhills Valley at home on Friday.
Maxwell
The Wildcats played in three games last week and went 1-2. First ,they played Arapagoe and won 66-44. That was an RPAC Rundown Featured matchup, so you can read the full game story here.
Next, they played Hershey and lost 76-52. Tayton Phillips and Jesse Reyes each scored 22 points in the game to lead Maxwell. Owen Pagel had nine rebounds for the Wildcats.
Their final game of the week was against Overton, and they lost, 61-40. Reyes had 11 points, and Phillips had 10. We'll see if the Wildcats can get things turned around, a couple of games with 30% shooting, but they play hard, which is always good.
They have three games: at MHC on Tuesday, the 13th; at South Loup on Friday; and at Cambridge on Saturday, the 17th.

Medicine Valley
The Raiders had two games last week. First, they played Wallace on Tuesday, the 6th. They dropped the game 61-44. The first and fourth quarters were tough for Medicine Valley, as they were outscored 32-15. Mason Roblee led the Raiders with 17 points on 70% shooting. He also had six rebounds and five assists.
The Raiders bounced back with a win against Arapahoe, 63-18. Lucas Einspahr had 21 points, five rebounds, five assists, and five steals. Ethan Brown had 13 points, Roblee had 12 points, and Payton Newcomb had 10 points.
Medicine Valley is now 6-4 and will face Cambridge at home on Tuesday, then host Mullen on Friday.
Paxton
Paxton played in a pair of games and split the matchups. First, they played Leyton and won a close game, 58-54. Paxton jumped out to a 23-11 lead, and each quarter Leyton crawled back into the game. But Paxton held on for the win. Tristen Hebblethwaite had 14 points, 11 rebounds, and six assists. Maddex McConnell scored 21.
Paxton then played MHC on Saturday on the road, which was an RPAC Rundown Featured Matchup. They dropped the game 51-44. You can read the full recap here.
Paxton is 6-5 and will play Creek Valley on Thursday at home, then host Wallace on Friday.
Southern Valley
The Southern Valley Eagles played a couple of games last week and split the matchups. Their first game was on Thursday, January 8th, against Bertrand. They fell in this competitve game, 51-40. This was an RPAC Rundown Featured Matchup, so you can read the full story here.
The Eagles bounced back on Saturday, the 10th, against the Furnas County rival, Arapahoe. Southern Valley won by a final of 70-38. Isaac Hamilton had a big game with 24 points, and Houston Hunt added 18 points. The Eagles rebounded well, totalling 40 boards.
Southern Valley is 4-9 and will face Chase County at home on Tuesday and then host Holdrege at home on Friday.

Southwest
The Roughriders played a trio of games last week. Southwest began with a game against Hitchcock County last Tuesday. The Roughriders lost, 71-55. Houston Billeter had 29 points to lead Southwest, and Deric Kelley had 13. Southwest then faced rival Cambridge on Friday.
Cambridge trailed at halftime, 41-36, as both teams were scoring at a high level. Cambridge, though, outscored the Roughriders 38-26 to get the win. Houston Billeter had another strong game, scoring 33 points and grabbing 19 rebounds. He also dished out six assists. Kelley had 18 points in the game.
Southwest closed out the week with a win over Wauneta-Palisade. Southwest won the game 56-26. Billeter scored 30 points and had 15 rebounds. He continued his strong play in the victory. Kelley again was the second leading scorer with 17 points.
Southwest is now 5-7 and will play at Hi-Line on Tuesday, then host Bertrand on Friday.
Sutherland
The Sailors of Sutherland played three games last week and went 1-2. First, they fell to Hyannis on Tuesday, 49-29. Jackson Saner led the scoring for Sutherland with 10 points. As a team, the Sailors struggled to find the bottom of the net, shooting 18% from the field.
Sutherland faced Creek Valley and won 54-36. Mason Mortimer had a solid game with 23 points. Easton Smith had 11 points. This was a good bounce-back win for the Sailors.
Sutherland then faced Sandhills/Thedford on Friday to end the week and lost, 54-39. Saner led Sutherland with nine points. As a team, the Sailors rebounded well with 42 rebounds.
Sutherland is now 4-6 and will face Arthur County on Tuesday on the road, then they will host Cambridge on Friday and Hitchcock County on Saturday

Wallace
Wallace played two games last week and won both of their matchups. First, they took on Medicine Valley and won by a final of 61-44. Colt Franklin and Max Hanson had solid outings with 20 points and 22 points each. Franklin also grabbed 12 rebounds to lead the Wildcats.
Then they played Arthur County and won 52-34. Franklin led the Wildcats in scoring with 24 points. This Wildcat team is one to watch as the season rolls on, they play good defense and are finding ways to win.
Wallace is 8-2 and will face South Platte on Thursday at home and then go to Paxton on Friday.
Wauneta-Palisade
The Broncos of Wauneta-Palisade played in three games last week and went 0-3. First, the Broncos dropped a close game to Cheylin, KS, 55-48. Four Broncos were in double figures for scoring as Aaden Wheeler had 12, and Nathan Hiett, Wyatt Hilbert, and Ayden Baker each had 10 points. Baker had nine rebounds, too.
The Broncos then faced Hitchcock County and lost the game 67-22. Hiett had 11 points to lead the Broncos. Wauneta-Palisade then played Southwest and lost 56-26. Hilbert totaled 13 points for the Broncos.
Wauneta-Palisade is now 1-11 and will face South Platte on Tuesday, January 13th, Perkins County on Friday, the 16th, both of those games are at home, and then go to Garden County on Saturday, the 17th.
